public speaking for geeks bloggerI have worked in the technology field for over 15 years. I started as a hardware technician, then worked my way up to selling solutions as a consultant. Eight years ago, I became a Systems Engineer for Citrix. I struggled a great deal at first with the public speaking requirements of the job, but once I understood that I could learn to be a better speaker, I came to relish every opportunity to practice. In my eight years at Citrix, I have had over 700 speaking opportunities at last count, with audiences from five to 1500. I have learned something new each time. As I have moved through different roles as a Global Technical Alliances Manager and now as a Technology Evangelist, the lessons I have learned from each speaking opportunity have helped me improve my effectiveness as a public speaker.
